In 1534 the French king, Francis First sent Jacques Cartier bring him gold spices, and he found Prince Edward Island. The Europeans needed coats to suvive the cold WINTER, so they take a lot of fur to Europe.
In 1608 Samuel de Chaplain a French explorer established the city of Quebec.
They etablished the Hudson Bay Trading Post in 1670 and started to trade with the natives.
